TUTORIAL: C139 DAYDREAMING VERSATILE FRAMES BY LORRAINE HADDATH

Take 5 crafting buddies including myself all with birthdays in March and April add the quaint little town of Parys in the Free State, antique and craft shops, lunch at the famous O’s restaurant overlooking the river and what have you got?..….the perfect day out.
I have made each of my friends a photo frame as a memory of a great day which could be used in an album, scrapbook page with some of the other photos we took or displayed on a stand.

For this project you will need:

  • FabScraps C139 collection papers as follows
    • 001,002,004 (both sides) fussy cut images and words from 009, 010 & 011
  • FabScraps stickers ST139 001 & 002
  • FabScraps metal embellishments and flat backed pearls
  • Die cut flowers from left over scraps
  • Coordinating coloured & kraft card stock
  • Twine
  • Distress inks – iced spruce, wild honey, worn lipstick and vintage photo
  • Selection of nesting dies

Instructions & measurements in inches:

  1. Fussy cut a selection of elements and words from 009, 010 & 011 and mount words as desired onto cardstock and ink edges of fussy cuts.
  2. Die cut flower shapes from left over paper after fussy cutting above and make flowers. Die cut some leaves from cardstock.

Frame 1 using a square nesting die set

  1. Cut a piece of white card stock 6” x 6 “
  2. Cut coloured cardstock at 5¾” x 5 ¾” and mount onto card
  3. Cut a 5½ x 5½ piece of FabScraps C139 paper and place on top of cardstock
  4. Cut a frame from coloured cardstock used in step b then cut a square from center of the 3 layers and mount the photo behind the aperture.
  5. Cut and mount words and then decorate frame with flowers, leaves as per photo

Frame 2 using rectangle die

  1. Cut a piece of coloured cardstock 7½ x 4½”
  2. Cut a piece of C139 paper 7¼ x 4¼ and stamp if desired
  3. Cut out a rectangle in center and mount photo behind
  4. Mount word with coordinating cardstock and decorate with leaves, flowers etc as desired

Frame 3 using frame shaped die

  1. White card stock 6 “ x 6”
  2. Place coloured card stock 5¾ x 5¾” onto the white base
  3. FabScraps paper (reverse of C139 004) 5½ x 5½” sewn and distressed round the sides
  4. Cut the frame aperture and mount photo to back
  5. Make bunting from cardstock and decorate as per photo

Frame 4 for this one I mounted the photo and raised with foam tape and adhered to front

  1. Cut a piece of kraft cardstock 7½ x 4½”
  2. Cut a piece of coordinating cardstock 7¼ x 7¼ and cut edges with decorative scissors.
  3. Adhere fussy cut images, tags etc and then the photo on top.
